The weird thing about my chronic illness is that due to the corticoids and antibiotics that I ingest “by the bucket” most of my immune responses are what is called “atypical”. Even under the worst infections I almost never have fever or other reactions because my immune system is so dialed down. That is, after all, one of the reasons why it’s so dangerous – most of the time I only notice when it’s too late and the neverending cycle of taking more antibiotics and other medication begins anew. So while it bereft me of a good night’s sleep, I’m actually positively surprised that I had this fever rush last night because it means that some things in my body still work occasionally…
