Diaper Test: Attends Adjustable

In our little race through the summer, it’s time for another review, and talking about the Attends Adjustable I will also have ticked off most of this vendor’s (to me relevant) products on my list some time soon.

Attends Adjustable

While it’s a sort of belt diaper, after all, it’s not your normal flex and functions like a normal briefs style product, but only one broad tape in place of two smaller ones.

Having just one tape makes it easier to put it on, especially when standing. Additionally this has the advantage of allowing you to really tighten things up as it’s more robust without ripping your diaper apart as sometimes happens with normal tapes. As the name implies, it can be adjusted multiple times, though you probably shouldn’t overdo it, either. At least compared to conventional flex models you do not have to put up with itchy velcro pads in inconvenient places, which is a big bonus. The belt tapes have accordion ruffles on the sides that ensure some tension while at the same time making them soft.

Similarly, the fit is good even if you have a less than stellar figure, which separates it from other such products. It feels very cosy on your behind and the balance of the higher cut around the legs while still having enough “bum coverage” is just right. The shape of the pad is slightly different from other Attends products, which stabilizes the overall form. Despite that it will still begin to sag when it gets too wet like most cotton feel/ breathable products do. This is perhaps one of the really unfortunate things here – with (partial) foil covering or an extra layer of a bit stronger paper here and there it would be more stable and even more suitable to wearing it plainly under your clothes in summer. The same could be said for the padding’s absorbency, as it only comes in the strongest level 10, which makes it somewhat bulky. That doesn’t bother me too much personally, but a lighter level 7 or 8 variant might not be a bad idea, after all, and work better under light summer attire.

Generally this product unfortunately leaves you with a few open questions. It’s not bad, mind you, but you always have this “I wish it was…” in your head. A bit more stability and a lighter version with a thinner pad could make this an ideal summer product. Also the price is a bit high for my taste, even if not excessively. Otherwise it gives you what you would expect – good absorbency, good fit, comfortable wearing characteristics.
