Diaper Test: Attends Slip Active

The weather forecast is predicting yet another heat wave for the next few days, so it’s a good opportunity to round off our little run of summer-y diaper product reviews. This time let’s give the Attends Slip Active a go. Since I have done a lot of groundwork with my articles on the other Attends products already, I’ll try to keep this one brief and only point out the differences without repeating myself too much.

Attends Slip Active

On a broad, generic level the Slip Active could probably be seen as a predecessor/ brother to the Attends Adjustable. It has a similar look and feel, but the details are handled a bit differently.

The first thing to note is of course that it has a plastic surface in the middle part. As a result, the shape retention issues I was critical of with the Adjustable are much less of a problem to the point where they don’t come into play at all. That’s a big thumbs up on my part and really improves the wearing experience.

While the belts themselves are of the textile variety, they have a trick up their sleeve as well. As you may be able to kinda guess from the images, there are two spots they are pinned down to. One is a conventional adhesive tape that is supposed to go onto the foil part and on the sides there is this velcro pad that hooks into the strip. This results in a very firm and taught fixation and additionally prevents any roll-up and crinkling in these areas. That being the case, it is very wearable even if your figure is not so optimal because you can essentially force it to stay in position by tightening it up seriously.

The overall fit is somewhere halfway between a normal slip/ briefs diaper and the thong like shape you have with a flex, sort of like a speedo, making it very comfortable to wear. Personally this also helps me to feel secure around the legs, as sometimes the Adjustable or flex diapers can make you feel “naked” on the outer thighs and buttocks or you think they aren’t tight between your legs because there’s no tension there when in fact they are perfectly sealed.

Since I promised to keep things brief, the typical qualities of Attends products need no extra mention. As a whole, the product is very nice and ultimately choosing between this and the Adjustable would be a matter of how “breathable” you really want your nappy to be, given the situation. Now that I have more experience in these matters I’d probably go with this product since it suits me better.
